hey guys, i've been figuring out how to screenprint recently with the lovely people at post expose in brooklyn, and i just finished a 13x19 4-color print. i made an edition of 40, which i'm selling if anyone's interested, for $30 (+$10 shipping, unless you're in the nyc area). also, there are about 20 more prints that are less than perfect for less $$. to make it confusing, i used 3 different papers to test it out. my favorite is the beige, but all of them turned out really awesome.
email me if you're interested and we can set up some kind of paypal thing and i'll get it sent out to you. thanks!

Rooftop Films on Kickstarter
Hey guys, a screening I was in recently and one of the coolest film screening setups I've seen in NYC is currently raising money on Kickstarter to keep their amazing program open year-round. This includes cool new locations, including an abandoned subway tunnel. The donation page is only up for 5 more days, and if you donate $30 or more, you get a "Best Of" DVD with my film on it. Sounds like something that would be really awesome and you should do if you love watching amazing films in picturesque locations for cheaper than a movie ticket in NYC and Brooklyn. I wouldn't ask you unless it were an amazing opportunity.

And here's a screen-cap from what I'm working on right now. Enjoy!

quick drawing
here's a flash doodle, this one is of a barbarian. i honestly can't believe it's been over a month since the last post. lately i've traveled to a few festivals and seen lots of really great and inspiring cartoons, and it's only made me draw more and more. i have no reason not to be scanning sketchbook pages. hopefully i'll fill up to my promises and put some of those up.

so here's some really old stuff
I was looking at a friend's website today and saw a lot of the drawings we developed for a pitch he was working on last year posted up all over the place. It's been about a year since we completed them, and assuming now it'll never be picked up, I'd like to share the things I drew for it.
The show was called "Carnies" and, you guessed it, involved a bunch of carnival freaks and the havoc they wreak in and out of their traveling circus. I could only locate the clean ones from his site, and the rough ones were just things I found from an old hard drive, and were more the working sketches, that may have not even made it until the end. In a couple, you can see the progression of the characters.
Anyways, this is my house-cleaning. Hope you like!

mini failures and mini successes
So here's a couple pictures relating to the prior post about making a sign for a comics section that was supposed to wrap around a wall. In the end, I did get to make the sign, which I thought turned out pretty well, aside from the easter-egg colors that ended up coming out when I tried to paint with wet acrylics on foam core. I felt that it didn't work, so posted with it is what I would have done had I planned better. Next time!
On the upside, I got to ink it with a sumi brush. That stuff is so much fun to play with!

Phoenix airport
If you can't tell, I'm really trying to post a lot more lately to keep myself working on different things. That's why I'm trying to work with color and textures in more recent pictures, which I'll try to post more of soon. I'm somewhat new to textures these days, so if this is too much, let me know! This one was when I was waiting for a plane in the Phoenix airport for 3 hours, because of inclement weather in Denver. Seems like every time I travel I get stuck somewhere, but I'm getting used to pulling out my sketchbook at these times, and kind of starting to enjoy this forced people-drawing time.

kill a man for a good book
here's a new post with a drawing i did last month. it was supposed to be a giant sign for my library, but got denied for possibly a few small reasons. i cleaned it up before presenting it, but i'm overall really happy with how it turned out as an illustration, so i don't really mind it doesn't get to be 4 feet tall. enjoy!

where's the blood???
So this is the cute post. I've been reading a lot of 'indie' comics lately, and have been getting pretty absorbed in thick lines and somewhat sentimental subjects, and honestly I really like drawing them. It's silly, yeah, and it's definitely no naked chicks covered in blood firing guns, but this is still pretty neat.
The first one is a design I did for a bookmark for my work. I don't know yet if the design is picked, but I like the picture, so it was worth it regardless. And the other is a doodle I did at the studio today in between jobs, pretty sappy. Trying different styles. Anyways, I'm going to play zelda now.

v-day drawring
fish in pants kinda make me giggle

Hey there. My first real post, here's just some designs that i'll animate in flash, obviously of a barbarian and a fish wearing pants. Flash seems to lend itself to an overtly simple design (at least when I use it), that I'm not too happy with. If and when I fix it, i'll post, or, you know, whatever.
